- Priority Pass™ Select membership (estimated $411 value when considering guest access)
- $325 annual travel credit
- Estimated 1.87% purchase yield
- No Foreign Transaction Fees
- 3X points on mobile wallet payments
- Priority Pass™ has lost some of its luster (users have reported challenges in accessing lounges at peak times)
- $400 annual fee (plus $75 for each authorized user)
The U.S. Bank Altitude® Reserve Visa Infinite® Card is an exclusive card offered to existing customers of U.S. Bank (checking, savings, loan or existing credit card account required).
The Visa Infinite® level credit card features a strong estimated purchase yield , especially when utilizing mobile wallet payment functionality along with a decent introductory bonus offer (currently 50,000 bonus points worth $750 in travel) and ongoing annual travel credits (up to $325 annually). Additionally, this credit card offers a limited Priority Pass™ Select membership (4 lounge access passes plus 4 guest passes, each year), 12 complimentary Gogo® Inflight Wi-Fi passes per year plus up to $100 in statement credits every 4 years for TSA Pre or Global Entry charges.
Objectively, this card offers an incredible value, assuming you are a frequent traveler and are able to use the lounge passes and wifi and Gogo® Inflight Wi-Fi passes. We estimate, assuming annual card purchases of $15,000, a return of $1,638 in year 1 and $813 every year thereafter.
This value can increase even more if you use mobile wallet. Currently, the card offers 3x points on mobile wallet purchases, regardless of merchant.
It is important to note that a meaningful portion of the value of this card (approximately $411) is in the form of a Priority Pass™ Select membership (a global, virtual airport lounge network – advertising access to over 1,300 partner lounges across 600 cities in 148 countries around the world). Unfortunately, Priority Pass™ has lost some of its luster over the past few years as many users have reported being denied access to affiliated lounges at airports worldwide, especially during peak hours. Without the membership considered, the value that this card offers is still above average, especially given the $325 in annual travel credits, the WIFI vouchers, the TSA Pre credit and estimated purchase yield of 1.87%.
If you are considering this card, we encourage you to learn more about Priority Pass™ including its many benefits and some of the challenges encountered by fellow travelers. If you are an existing fan of Priority Pass™ or travel to cities not often impacted by access denials, then this card is very much worth considering.
